President Bolsonaro: A Direct Letter to You

Olá Sr. Bolsonaro.

Como você está? Espero que você fale mal. Desculpe, mas os brasileiros não gostam de você. Presidente Bolsonaro, você não existe para a população do Brasil, mas quer ser o presidente do Brasil. Eu respeito os mais velhos até que se tornem destrutivos. Você está aí para dar sofrimento e contendas aos brasileiros.

Espero que você tenha uma "gripe"* de novo, pois a primeira vez não te ensinou a importância da segurança do vírus. O presidente Bolsonaro continua caminhando pelas ruas do Brasil sem máscara, tornando-se a motivação para a crise que está acontecendo no Brasil.

Minha mãe perdeu sua família para isso. Perdi membros da família por sua incompetência.

Suas políticas prejudicam milhões que não se parecem com você. Você tenta negar o direito ao casamento, tenta negar o direito ao aborto, e quer um governo combinado com a igreja. Essas ações são muito anticristãs como você. Não que você nunca tenha tentado ser um homem católico.

O governo do Brasil está repleto de corrupção. A Operação Lava Jato* é o motivo pelo qual você ganhou sua campanha. Mas isso não significa que o governo não possa ser usado para o bem. O Brasil é o país mais acolhedor da América Latina para grupos marginalizados. Dia ingênuo, o direito de casar antes que qualquer outro país pudesse exigi-lo e um enorme respeito pelas mulheres.

Este país tem potencial para grandeza sem a necessidade de pisar nos outros. O Brasil é um país que pode prosperar sem discriminação. Tudo o que pedimos ao Sr. Bolsonaro é se estabelecer ou deixar o governo.

How are you? I hope you say bad. Sorry, but Brazilians don't like you. President Bolsonaro, you do not exist for the population of Brazil, but you want to be the president of Brazil. I respect elders until they become destructive. You are there to give suffering and strife to Brazilians.

I hope you have a "flu" again, as the first time did not teach you the importance of virus security. President Bolsonaro continues to walk the streets of Brazil without a mask, becoming a motivation for a crisis that is happening in Brazil.

My mother lost family to this. I lost family to your incompetence.

Your policies hurt millions who don't look like you. You try to deny the right to marriage, you try to deny the right to abortion, and you want government to combine with the church. These actions are very unchristian like you. Not that you ever tried to be a Catholic man.

The government of Brazil is fraught with corruption. Operation Lava Jato is the reason you won your campaign. But that does not mean that the government cannot be used for good. Brazil is the most welcoming country in Latin America for marginalized groups. Native day, the right to marry before any other country can demand it, and an enormous respect for women.

This country has the potential for greatness without having to step on others. Brazil is a country that can prosper without discrimination. All we ask Mr. Bolsonaro is to either settle down or leave the government.

*gripe = flu, but in this context it means the novel Coronavirus strain causing a pandemic beginning in December 2019. The play on words is meant as a mocking of President Bolsonaro and his reactions to the coronavirus, specifically as a mocking of him going on live television and telling the Brazilian public to not worry about this “little flu” that is coming down on them. Brazil is now ranked third globally with the most amount of COVID-19 cases as of April 2021.

*Operação Lava Jato (Operation Car Wash) is an investigation done by the Federal Police of Brazil. It began as a money-laundering investigation before exploding to cover the allegations of corruption at Petrobras, a state-owned multinational corporation in the petroleum industry. It is called Operação Lava Jato because it was first uncovered at a car wash. In the investigation, an estimated 2-13 billion US dollars were landured through the embezzlement of Petrobras’s funds. Many major politicians were arrested and charged for their involvement, including the past president of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
