Valentine's Day in Bangladesh

Like elsewhere in the world, Valentine’s Day, the day of love, is celebrated across Bangladesh. People have been joining the celebrations of Pohela Falgun, a festival welcoming the advent of spring, to leave a message to all that love, affection, respect, and commitment should be cornerstones of removing all ills and building Bangladesh.

The capital Dhaka and other major cities are ablaze on Friday with mirth as youngsters wear yellow and red dresses, yellow for Pohela Falgun and red for valentine’s day. People also wear flower-made ornaments and attend traditional musical functions.

Bengalis mark the spring festival on the first day of Bangla month of Falgun. It is also called Boshonto Uthshob. It usually falls on February 13 but this year it coincided with Valentine’s Day, on February 14, which has also become a major day of celebration to the festival loving Bengalis, especially the youths.

As Valentine's Day comes with Pohela Falgun, the first day of spring, the florists are passing busy days. Various gift shops also tried to boost their business in this occasion with a varied range of gift items for their customers who go on a spending spree for offering a token of their love and appreciation to their loved ones.

Valentine's Day, also called Saint Valentine's Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine is an ancient Roman tradition which has been celebrated in European countries for ages. Due to globalization, this day has been celebrated in Asia including Bangladesh for the last two decades and it is gaining momentum every year.

It is said that there are many ways to celebrate Valentine's Day. But when you get right down to it, today is all about one thing: the universal, undeniable power of love. Love comes in all shapes and sizes. Therefore, we should all spend time with our loved ones on this day, but also make sure to always love them.

বাংলাদেশে ভ্যালেন্টাইনস ডে

বিশ্বের অন্য অন্য দেশের মত , ভ্যালেন্টাইনস ডে, যা ভালোবাসা দিবস নামে পরিচিত, সেটা সমগ্রহ সারা বাংলাদেশেই উদযাপিত হয়। মানুষ বসন্তের আগমনকে স্বাগত জানিয়ে পোহেলা ফাল্গুনের উত্সব উদযাপনে যোগ দিচ্ছে, সকলের প্রতি ভালবাসা, স্নেহ, শ্রদ্ধা এবং প্রতিশ্রুতি দয়ার জন্য এই বার্তা দিতে হবে যে সমস্ত দুর্দশাগুলি সরিয়ে বাংলাদেশ গড়ার মূল ভিত্তি হওয়া উচিত।

রবিবার রাজধানী ঢাকা এবং অন্যান্য বড় শহরগুলি শুভেচ্ছায় জ্বলজ্বল করছে যেহেতু তরুণরা হলুদ এবং লাল পোশাক পরে থাকে, পোহেলা ফাল্গুনের জন্য হলুদ এবং ভালোবাসা দিবসের জন্য লাল। লোকেরা ফুল দিয়ে তৈরি অলঙ্কারও পরে এবং ঐতিহ্য বাহী সংগীতানুষ্ঠানে যোগদান করে।

বাংলা মাস ফাল্গুনের প্রথম দিনে বাঙালীরা বসন্ত উত্সব উদযাপন করে থাকে। একে বসন্ত উত্সবও বলা হয়। এটি সাধারণত ১৩ ফেব্রুয়ারীতে পড়ে তবে এই বছর এটি ভালোবাসা দিবসের সাথে মিলিত হয়েছে, ১৪ ই ফেব্রুয়ারী, যা বাঙালিদের, বিশেষত যুবকদের ভালোবাসা উত্সবে একটি প্রধান দিন হয়ে উঠেছে।
